Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Lorax, and A Wrinkle in Time are all award-winning books that have been turned into movies. This webinar uses the books’ themes and characters to teach lessons and activities that reinforce concepts such as scarcity, productive resources, markets, choices, goods and services, and opportunity cost. Session objectives include a quick review of economic concepts, the rational for using motion pictures as motivators, a book synopsis of featured piece of literature the movie is based on, and examination of showcased lessons. Presented lessons are stand-alone, can be taught in one class period, and a not dependent on the student reading the book or seeing the movie.
